Matthew A. Gaudet, M.D., F.A.C.S. was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport. He completed his general surgery residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Duke University Hospital. Dr. Gaudet practiced with Ochsner Medical Center and was a clinical instructor at Tulane University School of Medicine as well as senior lecturer at the University of Queensland School of Medicine for 6 years prior to joining Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in 2021.

He is board certified in thoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His special interests include benign and malignant diseases of the lung, esophagus, diaphragm, chest wall and mediastinum, and lung cancer screening.

Dr. Gaudet is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, American College of Surgeons, The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, and the American Medical Association. He is a published author and peer reviewer of multiple works on the subject of thoracic surgery.
