Jonathan A. Yang, M.D., M.P.H. is originally from New York and attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, followed by Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. During his general surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, he earned his Master’s in Public Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. In addition, he completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center before joining Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in 2016.
Dr. Yang is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and fluent in Mandarin Chinese. His special interests include mechanical circulatory support (VAD and ECMO), heart transplantation, and aortic surgery. He currently serves as surgical director of the advanced heart failure program at Heart Hospital of Austin.
He has presented and published extensively in the field of cardiovascular surgery where he has received many awards and accolades. Dr. Yang is also a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Texas Medical Association, and Travis County Medical Society.
