Nicolas Zea, M.D., R.P.V.I., F.A.C.S., was born and raised in Colombia and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his general surgery internship and residency followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He practiced with LSU Health Sciences Center and Tulane Medical Center for 5 years prior to joining Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in 2021.

He is board certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Dr. Zea’s special interest include dialysis work, peripheral arterial disease, limb preservation and amputation prevention, carotid disease, aortic aneurysms, and surgical spine exposures.

Dr. Zea is a member of the American College of Physicians, Vascular and Endovascular Surgical Society, and Surgical Vascular Society. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has published numerous works on the subject of vascular surgery. Additionally, he is a native Spanish speaker due to his heritage and upbringing in South America.
